Important points about the RRB NTPC test

• ✓Selection is a Computer-Based Test (CBT-1 and CBT-2), followed by a qualifying-only typing skill test (officially the Computer Based Aptitude Test for typing) for typing-designated posts only (Senior/Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Time Keeper posts): it adds no marks of its own, but failing it disqualifies you regardless of CBT rank. Confirmed against two independent, detailed sources describing the exact same formula and screen behaviour.
• ✓30 WPM English or 25 WPM Hindi, over a 10-minute test, on a passage of roughly 1,800 keystrokes (360 words) in English or 1,500 keystrokes (300 words) in Hindi. You must type at least 300 words (English) or 250 words (Hindi) within the 10 minutes or you're disqualified outright, before the net-speed formula is even applied -- though in practice this floor is already implied by meeting the qualifying net speed itself.
• ✓The real formula -- confirmed independently across two detailed sources reproducing an identical worked example -- forgives 5% of your typed words' worth of mistakes before any penalty applies at all: Total Mistakes = full mistakes + half mistakes ÷ 2; Forgiven = 5% × words typed; only mistakes beyond that allowance cost anything, at 10 words each. Net Speed = (words typed − (Total Mistakes − Forgiven) × 10) ÷ minutes. This is now implemented exactly (fullErrorPenalty 10, halfErrorPenalty 5, 5% relaxation), not approximated.
• ✓The real exam screen shows no live word highlight, no error highlight, and no auto-scroll -- the passage sits in the upper half of the screen and you type into a plain box below it, tracking your own position line by line. The Backspace key is completely disabled, and arrow-key cursor repositioning is disabled too. Hindi uses Kruti Dev 010 or Mangal on the Remington Gail layout -- not InScript, an earlier inaccurate assumption here.
• ✓If you finish typing the whole passage before the 10 minutes are up, the real exam has you retype it from the beginning until time runs out (every extra keystroke still counts toward your total) -- this simulator doesn't automatically restart the passage for you, so treat a finished passage as the end of this practice attempt rather than an exact reproduction of that specific rule.
