• ✓Test duration is 15 minutes -- the CRE-5 annexure's Group Code 3 skill-test norms give a 15-minute test at 35 WPM English / 30 WPM Hindi for LDC/JAA. Many individual post advertisements in the same notification instead say "Time allowed 10 minutes", so check your own post's advertisement; this simulation follows the annexure's 15 minutes.
• ✓Backspace is fully enabled — you can correct any earlier mistake at any point in the 15 minutes. Qualifying only.
• ✓Insufficient Attempt: at least 2625 keystrokes in English or 2250 in Hindi within the 15 minutes are required before accuracy is even checked, on top of the 35/30 WPM speed requirement.
• ✓Word count uses the standard 5-characters-per-word convention (key depressions ÷ 5), matching the keystroke figure above — not RSSB-style space-separated word counting.
• ✓Mistakes are graded as full mistakes (wrong, missing, extra, or repeated words, plus letter-level spelling errors) and half mistakes (spacing, punctuation, capitalization); a single badly-mangled word is capped at 1 full mistake even if it has several issues at once.
• ✓Penalty and speed (official): each full mistake costs 50 strokes (10 words) and each half mistake counts as half of one, with no rounding of the mistake total (e.g. 4 full + 7 half = 7.5); net speed = (total strokes − penalty) ÷ (5 × minutes).
• ✓Accuracy is Net Speed ÷ Gross Speed × 100 — only the speed requirement decides qualification, not a separate accuracy percentage. The post advertisements define 35 / 30 WPM as 10,500 / 9,000 KDPH (5 key depressions per word); the annexure's shared clause also quotes 12,000/8,000 KDPH, where 8,000 KDPH is the Data Entry Operator standard, not the LDC one.
